UK Student Visa Help for Students from Gujarat

We help students from Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Bharuch with their UK Student Visa application.

Planning to study in the UK from Gujarat? The UK Student visa lets you study on a course with a licensed student sponsor – usually a university – once you have an offer and a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS). Our UK student visa consultants in Vadodara help students from across Gujarat with every step, from choosing a course to the visa decision.

Below you will find who can apply, the step-by-step process, a documents checklist, the money rules, English requirements, how to prepare for the credibility interview, common refusal reasons, and processing times – checked against GOV.UK guidance.

UK Student Visa – Step by Step Process

  1. Free profile assessment

We look at your marks, English level, budget and goals, and tell you honestly which courses and universities are realistic.

  2. Choose your course and university

A shortlist that fits your academics, budget and career plans, with entry requirements and intakes checked.

  3. Apply and get your offer

Statement of purpose, references and documents submitted on time; offers can be conditional or unconditional.

  4. Meet the conditions and get your CAS

Send final results, pay any deposit and complete the university's checks – then the university issues your CAS.

  5. Prepare your money

Your funds must stay in the account for 28 days in a row, ending no more than 31 days before you apply.

  6. TB test and documents

Take your TB test at a Home Office-approved clinic and put your documents together using the checklist below.

  7. Apply online and give biometrics

Apply up to 6 months before your course, complete the online form and attend your biometrics appointment.

  8. Decision and travel

Decisions usually take about 3 weeks. Then book accommodation and travel – up to a month before your course.

Documents You Will Typically Need

  • Valid passport (with a blank page for the visa)
  • CAS reference number from your university
  • Bank statements or an education loan letter showing your funds
  • Your parents' consent and your birth certificate, if the money is in their name
  • Marksheets and certificates listed on your CAS
  • English test result, if your CAS says you need one
  • TB test certificate from an approved clinic
  • ATAS certificate, if your course needs one
  • Written consent from an official financial sponsor, if you have one
  • Translations of any document not in English

Funds and bank statement rules

You must show that you can pay for your course and support yourself. As well as any first-year course costs you have not yet paid, the Home Office asks for living costs of £1,529 a month for courses in London or £1,171 a month outside London, for up to nine months. India is not on the list of countries that can skip this evidence, so students from Gujarat need to show it.

The money must be held for 28 days in a row, and the last day of that period must be no more than 31 days before you apply. A balance that dips below the required amount, even for one day, can lead to a refusal. Money can be in your own account, in a parent's account (with their consent and your birth certificate), or come from an education loan with a suitable loan letter. We check your statements against these rules before you apply. Read the official money rules on GOV.UK.

English test requirements: IELTS, PTE and others

For a degree-level course you need English at CEFR level B2; below degree level it is B1. Universities can assess your English themselves for degree-level courses, and many accept a range of tests – IELTS, PTE Academic and others – or your school results in English. If you need a test for the visa itself, it must be a Secure English Language Test from an approved provider. Your CAS says how your English was assessed, so make sure your documents match it.

Credibility interview: how to prepare

UK Visas and Immigration may invite you to a short credibility interview, usually by video, to check that you are a genuine student. Expect questions about your course and university, why you chose the UK, how you will pay for your studies and what you plan to do afterwards. There are no trick questions – but your answers must match your application and your documents. Do not memorise a script: know your course modules, your costs and your plans in your own words. We run practice interviews before your appointment.

Common refusal reasons

Refusals often come down to a few avoidable problems:

  • Funds not held for the full 28 days, or statements dated outside the 31-day window.
  • Information that does not match – names, dates or education history that differ between the CAS, the application and the documents.
  • Weak or memorised answers in the credibility interview.
  • A missing TB certificate or other required document.
  • Course choices that are hard to explain, such as a large unexplained gap or an unrelated subject without a clear reason.

If you have been refused before, read the refusal letter carefully – the reasons must be fixed before you apply again, and the refusal must be declared on future applications.

Processing time

You can apply up to 6 months before your course starts if you are outside the UK, and decisions usually take about 3 weeks after your biometrics appointment. Some visa application centres offer priority and super priority services for a faster decision, but availability varies, so check when you book. Always check the official Student visa page before you apply.

Working while you study, and after your degree

On a degree-level course at a university you can usually work up to 20 hours a week during term time and full-time in the holidays; below degree level the limit is 10 hours a week. You cannot be self-employed. Your visa will state your exact work conditions.

When you finish your degree, you may be able to stay and work on the Graduate visa. It lasts 2 years if you apply on or before 31 December 2026 and 18 months if you apply from 1 January 2027 (3 years after a PhD). You must apply from inside the UK before your Student visa ends.

Keeping up with rule changes

UK Immigration Rules change several times a year, and a change can affect the money you must show, the English level you need, which family members can join you and what you can do after your degree. We check the latest official guidance on GOV.UK before preparing every application, re-check the requirements if the rules change while your file is in progress, and explain clearly what any change means for you. The rules on this page were checked on GOV.UK in October 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions

The main recent changes are: most students can no longer bring dependants (only research postgraduate students and government-sponsored students can), and the Graduate visa will last 18 months instead of 2 years for applications made from 1 January 2027. Universities are also checking applicants more carefully, so consistent, honest applications matter more than ever.

Your passport, your CAS, proof of money for your course and living costs, a TB test certificate, and – depending on your situation – parental consent, an ATAS certificate, an English test result and translations. See the checklist on this page.

Your unpaid first-year course costs plus living costs of £1,171 a month outside London or £1,529 a month in London, for up to nine months, held for 28 days in a row.

Not usually. Standard decisions take about 3 weeks. Some visa application centres offer a super priority service for a much faster decision, but it is not available everywhere and the timing is not guaranteed – plan ahead instead of relying on it.

Most often because the money was not held for long enough, information does not match across documents, answers in the credibility interview were weak, or a required document such as the TB certificate was missing.

Only if you are on a postgraduate research course, such as a PhD, or you are a government-sponsored student on a course longer than 6 months. Most taught master's students cannot bring dependants.

Up to 6 months before your course starts if you apply from outside the UK.

Rules and requirements change from time to time. We check the latest official guidance for every application. Visa decisions are made solely by the relevant government authority.
